If it is our goal to be made in the image of Yeshua, God’s son, then the things that God hates, should become the things that I hate, not to seethe with caustic and vitriolic hatred toward individuals who practice such things, but to “keep my tongue from evil and my lips from speaking deceit, to turn away from evil and do good, to seek peace and pursue it (I Peter 3:10-11).
God is love. The Bible says it. So how can we reconcile the fact that God also hates. This is certainly not a popular concept and not a topic one might hear from pulpits any given Sunday. I think that we church-goers prefer to hear something positive about life. Maybe we even want to believe that the sin we harbor is somehow okay with God.
God also hates. He actually hates a lot of things. Joel Meredith has compiled a book of Bible lists “to entertain, interest, fascinate, stimulate and, most of all, to educate.” The interesting list (below) gives you a good idea of what things God finds to be abominations, or are detestable (odious, abhorrent, loathsome, abominable, hateful) to Him. The list of 43 items is interesting.
In Meredith’s Book of Bible Lists the following appears:

As I read the list and looked up the Bible reference, I realized that I do not personally hate all of these things.
“For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and his ears attend to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” (I Peter 3:13)
